Notes: This tab is included in my book, "Bluegrass Banjo from All Sides", which is scheduled for release by Mel Bay in September 2012. "America the Beautiful" is presented here in two keys, G and C. Notes: Patriotic Medly of America The Beautiful/God Bless America/Battle Hymn of the Republic as played by Allen Shelton from Jim and Jesse's American Pride LP and the Songs about our Country LP.I included the chords so you can play with your girlfriend.Alternate drop-thumbs are shown, with a link to the Celtic Thunder version, which has a Scruggs style banjo back-up. The process is probably a more conscious attempt to emulate something in modern times that evolved naturally historically.I've rated the difficulty here as beginner despite a small amount of drop-thumbing.Keith took one of Scruggs’s standard licks, employing a forward-backward roll with a pull-off on the third string, and threw in a subtle twist by pulling off to the fifth string and pivoting to the open third.Compare Keith’s version to Scruggs’s in the tab, and you will get my drift.

Notes: Here's a traditional bluegrass tune with mournful, self-pitying, and nonsensical lyrics. My arrangement comprises four breaks, including a high break, and is full of stuff that can be used in other tunes as well. When I heard this in 1963 or 1964, I realized that Bill Keith had opened new horizons on the banjo.Genre: Bluegrass Style: Bluegrass (Scruggs) Key: Em Tuning: Standard Open G (g DGBD) Difficulty: Intermediate Posted by banjopiet, updated: 7/17/2013 - 1 Member Comments Download: PDF | MP3: [Play] [Download] | GUITAR-PRO 5 | MP3: [Play] [Download]Notes: Based on Lloyd Chandler's song from the High Atmosphere recording. I thought about adding the triplet guitar rhythm to really make it sound like the Beatles, but ended up not adding it because it muddied the arrangement.
